I Want/Need A Car!
Posted: April 23rd, 2008 | Author: dzynone | Filed under: Cars & Bikes | No Comments »The story begins with a simple need to get a new car. Your current car is a nice 4 door automatic with all the options. Only thing is, it’s approaching 150,000 miles! Things are starting to break down and I can feel my wallet getting warm. It starts with the small things like ash tray door getting loose, then the radio going out, etc. Then it progresses to brake wear, then uh oh rotor wear. Next is, tick…tick…tick, What’s that noise?! You ask your friends and their response is similar to that of hearing a friend is in jail or a dying pet. It’s not reassuring for you, the car owner, who needs this car to run to get to and from work and to go about your daily routine.
So you say to yourself, I need a new car. First thing you do is think of the car you WANT instead of the car you NEED. So the research begins to see IF you can swing the payments. All the time you are researching, you know you can’t afford it, but you look anyway. Building your dream car with all the options online. Now that $20,000 base model car is $34,000 with all the chosen goodies. Now is the time where you get pissed and realize you have to get a car within your realistic budget. UGH, who wants that. You want to progress UP not down, right? It’s time to go from VW to BMW! Well hold your horses and wake up. A small percentage of us can do this move, but the rest of us dreamers have to be real with ourselves. What to do? Compare what you can afford new to what you already have. If the cost of maintaining your current car is cheaper than the overall cost & interest of a new car then you may want to consider staying right where you are until things change for the better for you financially.
Knock, knock. Who’s that, Why it’s Mr. Lease. He’s here to promise lower monthly payments so you can have your dream car! Sounds nice, but be sure to READ and understand the details. Good deals always come with a price. I guess at the end of the day you have to be honest with yourself, can you afford it?
